as far as i know every aquarium system should have a ground or its electrical supplies grounded... this is a safety precautions for the owner and also for the fishes... Naturally salt water due to its molecular structure will attract electricity and you dont want to have static charges in your aquarium becasue you will be shock every time you touch something in your aquarium... and it will be bad for your fishes to be constantly shock by static electricity... it will give stress to your fishes and eventually may lead to outbreak of deseases... there is a gadget that you need to put into your system "grounding probe" and attach the outlet into a grounded outlet. But unfortunately there is no one selling grounding probe in philippines. i ordered mine over the net. but before ordering you better have a ground in your outlet. a ground in your outlet is installed by attaching a wire in the ground (as in sa lupa, ibabaon mo ng 3 or more feet down below, usually they just attach the wire into the water piping of mwss cause the piping is beneath your house and usually below the ground). after doing that you will have a third outputlet in your electrical supply. this will absorb the excess voltage on your system. As per recommendation by reefkeeper it is best to install earth switch breaker to a system to avoid any electricution of the owner. the earth switch breaker will automatically shuts all electrical supply in your system whenever the breaker detects any electricity flowing into your system... thats it... yan lang alam ko sa topic ng ground... hehehe... thanks to reefkeeper for teaching me the basics of reefkeeping...
