For those who are not familiar with T5s, there are 2 types. Normal output and High Output. High Output is what you want. And also T5s are only effective if used with the proper reflectors. The reflectors will increase the output by 300%. Without the reflectors, T5 lamps are just skinny T8s.

fugu, deuce, are you familiar with helios? the deluxe II version has aluminum reflectors (individual) and those water proof ends. will this reflector suffice?

im eyeing the 54w, 47", 11000k Marine.

i'm asking coz these might be locally available thru DA...

yup, i also saw akari T5s. i guess this is what blackwing saw too. problem is, we're looking for High Output. Normal Output lang ang nakikita so far. i guess, abroad pa rin kung HO

searched google for philippine distributors of t5HO found one.

i tried looking for a way to contact them but they didn't post their contact numbers and address. i'll try to look for other companies and post it here.

T5 hoods are designed so that each individual light has its own highly polished reflector. Just thought that you might want to know? A 4 bulb reflector would look like this when viewed from the both ends. ----> nnnn<---- One bulb under each reflector.

There is another tank featured as Reef Central's tank of the month with a fully stocked SPS reef; using only T5s. Members at Reef Central posted that some of their LPS actually got burned under the T5s.
