Baffled about raffle's butterflyfish

Naka bili ng latticed/raffle's butterflyfish ang uncle ko kasi gusto nya ang isada, problem is that i run a REEF tank, nag re-research ako sa net may mga site na sabi "reef safe with caution" at iba naman flat NO-NO sa reef anu ba talaga ? So question nakin guys i lagay ba sa DT o sa Refugium nalang i lagay (in the mean time nasa quarantine ang isda )

The problem with fishes is not all of them are consistent with their feeding habits.

Take tangs for example. Ang general consensus sa kanila totally reef-safe, pero I know friends that sold or gave away their tangs because the little demons nip at or even decimate clove polyps, GSPs or imported zoas.

I don't have any experience with butterflies except for the yellow longnose and Copperband. One thing is for sure though, even if they have been generally coral-friendly (even for several years already) they may suddenly eat corals if they are starving.

They are constant grazers like tangs and angels, if they are not fed frequently, they will find other things to munch on. So if you are willing to risk it, maybe training it to eat pellets first then feed it several times a day could help.

PS apparently some forums and online articles (like this: http://orphek.com/butterflyfish-compati ... th-corals/ ) say latticed butterflies primarily eat octocorallians and anemones and just sample stony corals. If you don't have any anemones or octocorals maybe you could make it work.

Don't risk it lalo na kung may mga mamahaling corals ka. Once na nailagay mo na siya sa tank mo at nagsimula na syang mamapak ng corals, mahihirapan kang tanggalin sa tangke yan. Disaster yan.. But if you're willing to take the risk, sabi nga ni kapatid na Marty.. kung wala kang corals na paborito nyang papakin mas malaki ang chance na magfit sya sa tank mo. Just make sure na palagi mo syang bubusugin dahil kapag nagutom sila, humanda ka na..

Hindi nalang nakin i-lagay sa dt ang butterfly (takot ako kay may red eye zoas sa dt )sa refugium nalang ilagay atsaka may aiptasia colony sa refugium para mawala na yan But thx anyways for helping me
