DIY Skimmer

Hi guys i need your advise... im planning on making my own skimmer...

recently ive been trying to mod my old pump and ive had a good result from using a venturi at the inlet and my pump has been doing great bubbles. After getting these results i thought of replacing my old insufficient queen with a better one....

Anyway here are some of what i found at the supermarket.. I stacked them up and this is how they look like

As youve noticed thats my old collection cup from my extra skimmer... Im planning on using that also para di na ako mahirapan masyado hehehe!

so in the future... after ive finalized the design... i will do some the drilling...

ayus toh sir... sana maganda kalabasan ng DIY skimmer nyo...

bro mas ok yun tall, para mas marami bubbles, ayos dyan ang 10-12wats na powerhead, dont forget to add outflow ok and make sure na wala makalabas na bubbles sa outflow... keep it posted and goodluck

may problem nga ako ngayon eh kasi pag binuo ko pala yung skimmer baka di ko malagay sa sump kasi maliit na lang clearance ko sa ilalim ng tank ko haha! pero ewan ko tignan ko pa bro... babawasan ko yung taas ng konti.. yup may overflow naka elbow siya pababa sa lower bottom ng inside ng skimmer tapos out niya siyempre hanggang neck ng skimmer lagyan ko rin ng pvc ball valve dun para macontrol yung height ng water&foam sa loob... sa thursday ko sisimulan eh.. para pagdating ng camera ko may maganda ako pictures ng diy hehe!

nice diy project bro. gawin mo na lang external protein skimmer yan bro kasi the taller your skimmer the better..good luck sa project bro and keep us posted.

what type of plastic are those? i'm hoping they're not polyethylene (PET). baka kasi magkaron ka ng problema pagdating sa bonding...

hehe i dont think theyre PET pero... wag sana hahah! hard plastic naman siya katulad nung mga skimmer na nakikita ko...

sad naman hehehe i tried glueing them together with super glue and i think it is PET... yung test ko fail... so perhaps tulog muna itong project na ito hahanap pa ako ulit hehe! babalik ako! hehe
