Day 64

some updates...

the front glass was installed a day after the side windows along with the top brace...
Image

the center braces have a width of 4 inches each...
Image

hood fabrication

using a 1/2" ply, i cut a panel measuring 84" x 15". then, using wood glue and finishing nails, i fastened an 84" x 2.5" 1/2 ply on both sides...
Image

for the hood legs (or whatever you may call it), using 3/4 ply & 1"x1" wood, i cut this...
Image

glued and screwed...
Image

wood glue was laid on the "legs" before attaching it to the hood...
Image

legs fixed on the hood...
Image

then dry fitted. i will be painting this along with the rest of the tank...
Image

details of the right sump...
Image

the leak test was started last thursday and turned out good...
Image

although it can't be seen much, there's water cascading through the rock wall...
Image

...thanks for viewing and will be posting more updates soon.

sorry for the long delay... things went out of hand but i'm back. anyway...

before applying wood putty on the entire tank, the bare wood was sanded first using 150 grit sand paper to remove the exposed fiber on the wood...
Image
water turned green after several days of direct morning sunlight

after one of the messiest parts of the build, which is sanding  , the entire tank was primed using an epoxy based primer...
Image
light testing...

Image

after a couple of days of fixing the small details, the tank was masked then spray painted with metallic black and red...
Image

Image
the hood was painted with flat black...

friday morning, the tank was emptied and cleaned in preparation for the pick up...
Image
the rock wall was cleaned using a new 1" paint brush (old ones won't do the job right)... it would be a lot easier if i had a blower

lights on...
Image

Image

Image

Image

i placed 50 liters of aquaclay in separate chambers. this one is in the return chamber...
Image

FBF chamber. this one will run on a reverse flow...
Image

tank shot taken this morning...
Image

Image

and the guys from the shipping came. the tank will be crated first before shipping it...
Image

Image

Image

off to dumaguete...
Image

...thanks rp and to all who watched this thread. until the next build.
