Aquarium Silicone

Postby N@noreefer » Mon Oct 11, 2010 10:24 am

Sirs,

Don't know kung nasagot na ito sa ibang thread pero pwede bang gamitin yung all-purpose clear silicone nabibili sa ace hardware in a reef tank?

Thanks RP.

i think most aquarium makers sa carti use the normal silicone that can be bought sa mga hardware stores.. i think it is around a little more than a hundred pesos..

yung selley's ang brand maganda rin kaso sobrang mahal. P200+ na yung maliit na tube pa lang. but you can get away with the local silicone as long as it is 100% silicone and not yung acrylic sealant... :D

sir, if you'll use it to seal an aquarium, the silicon sealant available in most hardware stores is ok. but if you're going to use it as an adhesive (like putting together the panes of an aquarium) then I suggest the Dow Corning brand, this not always available in hardware stores but is available on aluminum and glass supply stores, costs about 150 pesos. Dow Corning is an adhesive-grade silicon sealant that's much better to use than ordinary silicon sealants.
