Has anyone try using metal halide na Firefly, akari brands?

mga gurus, ask lang po, i saw a firefly brand and akari sa hardware na metal halide set na with ballast, ignitor, etc.. pwede ba eto gamitin sa reef? may 70watts, 150 and up.... any ideas? thanks..

problem with this is the bulb.. i think you can use this if you change the bulb..

im using an akari brand 400W, MH, ok naman, yun nga lang magnetic ballast ang gamit niya. It will have a higher consumption of electricity compared to electronic ones. Also mas mainit because of the ballast. What i did sa setup ko is nilabas ko yung ballast and nilagay ko sa control panel para makabawas sa heat. IME magnetic ballast are more durable than the electronic ones except those which are made in europe and the US.

I also observed na yung binebenta ng MH and Aquariatech na reflectors mas efficient yung light distribution niya due to the wide angle of beam spread, designed siya talaga for Reef aquariums. Generic floodlights has narrower beam angle bec they are designed to be installed from 6 meter and above mounting height. For the lower wattage generic MH they are designed to be installed at least at 2.4M or at ceiling height.

Si sir greggydm,he uses mh from ace hardware doon sa wall mounted reeftank nya. Kailangan mo nga lang gumamit ng mga actinics para mag bluish kasi mababa yung color temp ng mga regular mh Na nabibili sa market. Imo ok naman sila sa growth tanggap naman ng ls yung ganung lights.

i actually have 3 150w DE firefly MH and they work alright. i changed to bulbs to 20,000k that i got from peter.
