If you have a good return pump, you can minimize the number of powerheads. 16x-20x the volume of your tank is the flow required for reef tanks. So, if your tank is a 50 gallon, you need a minimum waterflow of 16x50= 800 gal/hour.
Corals don't like a linear waterflow, it needs to be random. I noticed that SPS will grow weird if the water constantly hits them in one direction. Jolt suggested having 2 powerheads placed in each corner and pointed towards the front middle part of the tank. This is an inexpensive alternative to a wave maker.

a bit unclear to me sorry pls.., yu mean to say sir aside fr powerhead fr sump (seaquest) going to main tank i have to put pa another pump sa main tank to have a good circulation?
I got regent 12000 pump for the main tank (for circulation)and seagate 2200 for the return pump. I know that the regent pump was ok but my concern is that the seaquest 2200 returning pump was enought? Got confused too which16x -20x be used....for whole circulation(Main tank to sump back to main tank) or 16x-20x for the main display tank only. Sir im very much sorry for having confused for this 16-20x.ty po

forget the sump muna when calculating. main tank ka lang may corals, so yun lang ang dapat maganda ang circulation.
basta ganito.
in liters per hour lahat. (or gallons per hour basta constant, dont add gallons to liters. convert mo muna to get a similar unit of measurement). pumps here are powerheads.
