Ayni,
1. keep the overhead filter for your activated carbon if you do not have a sump, the added water movement is a welcome thing anyway.
2. Limit the use of foam if you cannot clean this on a daily basis.
3.You may keep the overhead filter with crushed corals. It will also act as a mini refugium for your pods to colonize.
4. If you have enough live rocks and your tank has already cycled, it should test zero amonia.
5. If you're still registering amonia after 8 weeks, you either don't have enough live rocks or you need more powerheads to push water through your giant filter, and that's your live rocks.
