Add clean up crew na. Dont worry theyre not heavy on bio load and having a lot of them makes sure you dont have an explosion of algae and dead ls are quickly taken care of

Week 3 Water Parameters:
pH - 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 160+

I've decided I'll do a water change tomorrow with the NSW from fev marine.

Sirs, what exactly and where can I get CUC? Si sir Ritchie of fevmarine only has narcissus snails ata which I read should be put in an older tank. (Tama ba?)

I'm in the katipunan - qc area but I don't mind going to cartimar.

this morning i tested the NSW from fevmarine:

pH 8.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0

did a 40% water change. will test the water again tomorrow.

tested my water again just now. even after the 45% water change yesterday morning my nitrates are still very high at 160.

did a 50% water change this evening and tested 2 hours later.

water parameters as follows:

pH 8
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
NItrate 160

should i remove my filter media (black sponge, wool pad, ceramic noodles)? they're my primary suspects.

bro konting pasencya pa.. ganyan talaga nitrates matagal pababain lalo na sa tank size mo.. even water change will not make it lower because wc will not remove the silicates in it's chemistry. We're talking about 2 waters here, one from your tank and the other one is from your wc. kahit RO/DI water pa ang pang water change mo may trace pa rin yan ng silicates that causes Nitrates and Phosphates to stay on the water.

BTW may sump ka ba? tsaka pansin ko jan sa tank mo (actually we have the same type of tank) ung overhead filter nya maiimbak lng talaga ung mga dumi jan. since tapos na ung cycle mo (i dont call it the end but the start of the end of the cycle), I suggest get some macroalgae's that will consume the Nitrates in your tank.

Wag mo muna palitan ung foam filter mo sa overhead, give it a week or 2 kasi ung mga bacteria jan baby pa hindi kasi ganun katagal ung cycle mo and those bacteria will help your tank to be stable. I've learned that the hard way nagrestart pa ko ng tank ko and it took me 3 months para matapos ung nitrate problem ko but now im in the phosphate stage.

DONT DO ANY WC UNTIL THEN.

After 2 weeks, mag 20% WC ka, make sure linisin mo na lahat ng equipments mo by doing vinegar bath (google mo lng kng papano to) kahit yng OH box na lalagyan ng foam linisin mo rin sa vinegar bath. Soak it for the time na nagwawaterchange ka then rinse it with FW. After the 20% wc, turn on the pump without the foam filter (or kung may wavemaker kna much better) and run it for 30 mins. Then mag 50% wc ka naman after 30 mins. after that balik mo na ung foam filter mo and let it run though the day test mo the nxt day ung parameters mo then balitaan mo kami sa parameters.

Also some pix will be appreciated baka may diatoms kna rin better cure it now that later

@excalibur bro correct lang kita hindi nag cacause ng nitrates and phosphate yung silicate. diatom ang naproproduce nyang silicate. nitrates and phosphate cause by uneaten food, decaying matter, detritus etc. and also waterchange is the best way to remove anything in your tank. and also mas maliit yung tank mas madaling pababain yan.

siguro nga baka naging detritus trap yang mga filter media mo kaya naging nitrate factory. btw may livestock kana ba? baka overfeeding or overstock tank mo? or kung wala kapang livestock ilang months kana bang nag cycle? baka di pa tapos yan kaya tumataas pa. also shake your test kit well. saka pag tignan mo na yung reading dun ka sa malinawag saka wag mong idikit sa white background yung test kit dapat may space yun kahit kunti. saka clean your test kit every use baka may residue pa dyan.

btw ano palang gamit mong pang waterchange? nsw? anong saltmix? anong water pinang mix mo? baka may nitrate and phosphate din yung pinangwawaterchange mo kaya less effective.

thanks for the replies guys.

i used NSW water from fevmarine - tested it myself and it's clean (0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 0 nitrates)

will absorb what was posted first but just a quick update, i tested this morning and nitrates are down to 80. will test again tonight and probably another WC tomorrow.

Thanks symphi for correcting.. Might as well both of you read this for reference na rin

http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f4 ... 25149.html

Anyways, wag mong madaliin lahat bro.. Aquarium related stuffs can be learned by research and reading but having patience is a virtue

Better yet provide mo lahat ng updated details ng tank mo like livestocks, pictures, water temp (kng magcocorals ka specially), equipment, most specially try to research bro. Un kasi ang pampatay oras sa hobby na to at the same time you're being ready for the future

Btw, oo madali cguro sa iba mag advise sa mga nano tank like ours but to tell you, nano's are more complicated than it looks specially when compared to bigger tanks. Konting galaw mo lng sa tank mo napakalaking difference ang result specially sa water quality, temperature and ls.

Try searching sa nano-reefs.com marami kang matututunan dun tsaka sa reef central lalo sa mga nano systems. ;)

for better understanding about silicate check this link http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2003/1/aafeature1
about nitrates: https://reefworks.co.uk/articles/understanding-nitrate/

don't stress yourself too much about nitrates imho normal lang yan sa new tank since di pa stable yung system.
