Again if you would not be around to take care of your tank, make the system as simple and as fail-safe as possible. Plan ahead and make sure the livestock you intend to keep would fit in just right for your equipments and husbandry.

Remember you will not be spending for just a large piece of furniture, but will be investing in a very complicated living system that will demand a significant amount of time, patience and money.

corals will consume calcium, alkalinity, magnesium and other trace element. depending on your system and livestocks waterchange alone might not be enough to replenish the big three (calcium, alk, mag) so you‘ll have to dose for that.

ro (reverse osmosis) water is highly recommended for mixing with saltmix and evaportion top off. tap water have a lot of impurities that reef tank would not tolerate.

I don't suggest to follow my first light setup. Too many newbie error hehehe. Check my new build at DIY section "Paul's LED build. Actually I already sold this build and will be delivered on March wk2 as soon as the parts for my new LED build arrives from SG.

This is a 3w array total of 84 LEDs, 252W total. 1 channel for 14k whites and 1 channel for royal blue with dimmers. On and off contolled by CDR king timers.

Yup, that's the 18k setup without the cost of the timers, gas and toll fee expenses. I'm from sta. Rosa kasi. Got the heat sink from Aranque(Alonso St.). LEDs, lense, and drivers from SG. Fans and wiring from Deeco Raon, chains from True Value, dimmers from ACE hardware.
