Planning Stage: Newbie setting up a FOWLR aquarium

@fisher_f: Still in the planning stage pa. Ipapa-customize ko kasi yong tank ko and I'm still having a hard time in determining what kind of lighting system I'm going to have. Also, my brain is still digesting about the information I read from this forum about sump, fuge, and other equipments.

@christian_nua: Very much appreciated on your inputs. Will definitely visit jing-sea or katrina at Cartimar next week or so. Sa Cainta kasi ako eh. Hopefully I will have my new tank this week so that by next week, will be ready for the 1st stage in setting up na. Gusto ko pag punta ko doon bili na rin ako ng mga live rocks and sand. Probably equipments na rin. How's the weather there by the way?

actually, mas mura pa bumili ng equipment then take care of live corals. kaya lang, kailangan alam mo kung pano sila buhayin.

sa set up naman, tingnan mo na lang mga pics sa Members tanks. if it works for us, it will work for you

the weather up here is fine.. summer ngaun here... around 25 to 32 degrees... people here hate the weather kasi they are dying due to the hot temperature daw sa kanila... lol... its not hot... 32 is a normal temp in philippines... LOL...

princess if i were you dont rush things up... its so hard to buy then knowing that it wont work sa system mo... you need to know things muna bago buy or decide to do things... ang una mo munang aralin ay ang modified durso standpipe (super quiet system). thats the first thing i study and learn from reefkeeper... if your overflow is not ok, everything will not be ok... try to research on it... ok... compute your needed gallons per hour in reefcentral.com

Thanks guys for your recommendation. I'm still trying to figure out the rest of the components I need.

I definitely want to start with a FOWLR setup and moved to have corals when I'm corfortable enough. I really admired all the members' setup.

Pahabol question po: In drilling holes for the main tank and sump, is there a recommended diameter for the hole and how far (probably in inches or centimeter) from the top? How many holes for sump and the main tank? Kaya ba sa cartimar gumawa ng sump based on acrylic?
