I need to see some corallite structures before I can hazard a guess. Can you gently touch the coral to make it withdraw its tissue and then quickly take a very close up photo of a few corallites ? Thanks.

Not really, for proper identifications for most corals, you have to have bare (no tissue/dead) corallites which can be examined under a dissecting scope or a very good magnifying glass.

does it really matter what species it is? i mean, do they have different requirements? :D

In this case I think it would be safe to assume that it requires moderate light intensity, water flow and target fed on a daily basis much like other favids. For other groups, knowing the species can be important per its care requirements. I do understand the need or desire to know its species though as I too always wish to know exactly what I have in my tank but that is not always possible, specialy with the Acroporas and Montiporas, for those I simply accept the fact that I will never know.
