white spots on mushrooms???

sir chuck,

can i ask what are these white pots on my mushrooms??...are they parasites, or a disease or is it just normal for the shrooms to have those???

if its a disease sir chuck how would i be able to cure it???...thanks...heres a pic....

They are most likely mesenterial filaments that the corallimorph extrudes/extends to gather very small particulate foods in a normal setting. In abnormal settings, or stress events due to poor water quality or sudden changes to the water quality, such extension is also common. So it could be a good sign or a bad sign, something that water testing can determine or if you know you just fed the tank and such a response would be expected.

I don't know of any parasites that would look like the photos you posted although there are flatworm species that are very common to corallimorphs yet seem to do them no harm.

Hi, actually i just got some mushrooms from another RP member who gave them to me for adoption - they also have the same white spots but not as many as in the picture. The ones i have are not filamentous - As they are with me for just a day or so, i didn't examine closely... will keep observing them this week and check up on this thread again...

I also have mushrooms with the same condition. They are not extending when I'm feeding. And its like ganun na talaga itsura nila kasi parang nakakita ako ng newly grown shrroms na may ganun na agad. I hope its not a disease or something bad. :roll:

I'm about positive that they are mesenterials, which by the way can also be a sign of aggression and/or stress as noted earlier. Either a large water change or the use of carbon should calm them down or reduce their stress.

But... to rule out anything else, if the white dots move or can be moved and do not appear to be coming out of the polyp, then they would obviously be some type of other creature.
