zoo eating nudibranch.

Hey Chuck

Have you ever encountered of zoo eating nudibranches?

i transferred my zoo colonies in a 15g tank and saw a ton of them.. I hate to see my zoo's dying of a slow death.

any advice how to take them out?

mike, dip the zoos in freshwater every few days to kill the nudibranchs and its eggs. if you spot the eggs, you can use tweezers. You can also add nudibranch eating wrasses. HTH

I agree, frequent freshwater dips for zoanthids should work fine. Keep in mind though, that there are very few corals that can withstand freshwater dips and should only be done with zoanthids. If you have a magnifying glass, look for their eggs also and scrape them off with a butter knife or something similiar.

With zoanthids, they are fairly tolerant of freshwater and can be held in it for a few minutes, usualy most people go about three to five minutes and can be done a couple of times a day. Personaly I would give the polyps at least four hours between dips just to be on the safe side. You should be able to watch and see the adult nudibranch falling off.
