I would think so, by small jugs, I use 5 litre bottles. I had my 30gal tub outside also producing phyto but it made no sense to me to try and keep that much phyto alive and waste my fertilizer as I will never use that much phyto. That and if you have a few smaller jugs, if one of them should die then you have not lost your culture and can make more. In a large tub or tank, if it dies, you have nothing and then have to go chase down Jason and beg him for some more...lol (just joking).

I think it would be nice to brew beer for the CO2, so you can take a sip while watching your tank

Sir, I've lost the pics alreay. There are a lot of mixture you can use which can be more effective. But being a cheapo myself, I just used the ff:
- baker's yeast (from the grocery store, since you'll be using 1/4 tspn every 1-2 weeks, a small pack would last for years)
- brown sugar (2 cups ~ 1/2 klos)
Here's and ugly (I mean simple) diagram of what I did.
Green color - yeast, sugar, water
Blue - water
