No skimmate when cycling?

Postby sharkbait » Sun Oct 12, 2014 8:43 pm

My tank is cycling for around ten days. Just last night, I got my old ro dnw-150 recirc skimmer online and started skimming. Skimmate production was great, pulled around two cups of gunk immediately. Skimmer cup was bursting with skimmate and that made me happy :D But just a few minutes ago i checked on the skimmer and the bubbles are not reaching the neck anymore. Skimmate production has totally stopped. I could choke the out flow a little to put the bubbles on the neck level but Im wondering is my skimmer broken? Or would it mean that because Im just cycling there is nothing to skim anymore?

Nevermind, skimmate production is back to normal.

That's normal... There's always a downtime with skimmers.
