Types of LED?

Hello,

ask ko lang po kung may difference ba yung mga LED na 3W, 5W, etc na downlight/spot light na binebenta sa wilcon, home depot, ace, handyman, cdr-king etc to the ones being sold by specialist shops, in terms sa light intensity, lumens, PAR reading?

Meron, malaki ang difference ng generic china LEDs kung ikukumpara mo sa branded fixtures in terms of efficiency at lumen-per-watt output. At lalong mas malaki ang difference nila sa mga high-end fixtures na sinadya para sa aquarium use, gaya ng Ecotech Radion, Maxspect at AI.

Malaki ring factors ang Lens na ginagamit pati ang angle nito, kung may collimators at pati na rin yung driver na gamit para mapagana yung LEDs.

Isa pang difference nila yung quality ng product at yung durability ng mga piyesa, lalo na yung LEDs.

uu nga malaki talaga yung pinagka iba ng branded na led sa china.pero ok rin naman sila.china led lang din yung ginagamit ko.galing kay obet.low budget lang kasi ko.at masmasaya gawin yung.kong ikokompara mo yung branded na led na kaya kahit 1.2A.yung china led 700mA pumuputok na.hehehehe.maganda lang yung mga effect ng made na.gaya ng AI sol at radion kasa sa diy..pero tignan mo to diy lang ilaw ko.

The 3w LED provide good light to tank up to 75 gallon. 5w LED is required for tank above 75 gallon.

Follow up question, pano malalaman kung ang LED bulb eh power LED na pwede gamitin as light source sa reef aquarium or yung ordinary LED lang na nabibili sa mga hardwares? Ano ba tinitingnan? PAR? Lumens? Color temp? Or wattage?

kung DIY version, usually ang hi-power led eh ganito:

they range from as low as 1 watt to as high as 100 watts per diode. now as for the lumens, it's a way measuring of how bright a light is. as for PAR, (someone correct me if i'm wrong), is the amount of useful light that can be absorbed by photosynthetic organisms (plants, corals etc). color temp naman is the color of the light (white, blue, royal blue, red, green, UV). about wattage naman, it doesn't necessarily follow that the higher the wattage of the LED eh high power na agad.

Yes plug & play na yan. Peter of aquariatech has them. Meron din e27 type. Bale screw type din un. There's a group of reefers here (if I am not mistaken) who ventured out to raon, about last week ata, to try out the e27 type leds. Try asking marty (username is seth) about d e27's kc alam ko ganyan gamit nya.

Yung downlights ang gamit ko bro sea, pero gumawa kami ng E27 versions.

Tama si bro seaturtle, bro mazach. Also, don't pay attention to the supposed color temperature of the LEDs or even the CRI. Kung gagawa ka ng DIY or bibili ka ng ready made na, ang tignan mo yung spectrum ng LEDs. Dapat mas lamang sa fixture yung mga beads na may 440-460nm spectrum. Maganda rin kung may PAR reading para may estimate ka kung practical bang gamitin yung balak mong bilhin.

Take note as well: not all 1w or 3w or multichip LEDs are the same. Typically mas efficient ang mga branded LEDs like CREE and Osram kumpara sa mga chinese LEDs in terms of light output and energy consumption.

Try to research about multichip LEDs as well (maraming link sa RC, especially yung thread ni maglofster). Malinis siya tignan at konti lang ang binaba sa efficiency.
