I also tried this method once bro, i put 1tsp in my 40gal. Within 24hrs, the water became cloudy (could be bacteria bloom) and bubbles in the skimmer became frothy. I've noticed that the fishes are having breathing difficulties, the next day, I did 50% wc because I was worrying that my livestocks might die. Fortunately all fishes and corals survived, but most of my corals lost their colors & some zoas melted.
One day of stupidity, it took couple of months for my corals to recover their zoanthelae.
It's a lesson learned, just leave the sugar for your coffee and vodka for the party... as what Mr. Chuck said..
