Going skimmerless? Before attempting, try to read the article in the Marine Aquarium quarterly Issue YB139 by Axelrod et.al. It has a good take on this issue and why you may have to rethink on this.

It can be done.
This japanese guy has no skimmer, no calcium reactor. He changes 120% NSW every 2 weeks, and his tank is one of the best I've ever seen. I don't have any links on him, but I learnt from him in RC.
