how to save on your test kits?

hi guys... the saltwater test kit (API) test tubes, drops needed for each test, (and even the manual) says it needs 5mL (5cc) of saltwater solution for testing. i wonder if we can do a little trick (and saving money) here, by collecting just an mL (1cc) and do a little math (by ratio and proportion). so instead of 5mL (saltwater), let us collect just 1mL, and divide the needed drops for each test. e.g.: if 5mL = 10gtts (drops, for nitrate test), then: 1mL = 2gtts (drops) nalang, para lang makatipid... hehehehehe... thanks for viewing.. (though i haven't tried this yet).

i dont think that is necessary.. test kits only last for a year, maybe two.. kaya if you test weekly, it will last for a year.. pero once your system is stabilized, you wont need to test that often.. nasasayang lang yung test kit.. yung sayang na test kit is the API calcium kit bottle 2.. sana nagbebenta lang sila ng bottle 2 lang.. madalas hindi pa half yung bottle 1, ubos na bottle 2..

i like the way you think hehehe! ganyan din ako eh kung paano makakatipid yan iniisip... kaaliw...

siguro sulit na sa test kits kahit naman normal 5-10 drops ka parati every test... me i test almost 3 times a week... daily pa nga nung first days ng cycling ko... pero parang puno pa yung bottle ng test kit so... tingin ko ok lang...

about sa idea... ewan ko lang kung gagana ratio and proportion... if you think about it... kung specimen mo is so small and you test it... it wont be as accurate compared to having a larger specimen... reducing your water to 1 ml might open up a %error larger than the %error of a 5ml specimen...
