what is this algae?

mga masters, pa-id po nitong algae nato.. have seen it before, and i just scrape it off.. but just last night, i noticed its spreading in my sump.. is this good or bad algae? what does it mean? high or low nutrients in my tank? :shock:

not really sure but it could be bryosis. it infested my tank several months ago. it was a long battle. don't scrape it off cause it will spread more. you have excess nutrients in your tank.

Urg. the alga on the glass is Bryopsis. Probably Bryopsis pennata.
Eradicate with extreme prejudice, lol...

I oughtta visit your tank one of these days.
Let me know when there's jerez in the fridge... heheh.

In case of persistent algal infestation, consider investing in a UV sterilizer.
Double whammy right there --the UV actually photocatalyzes many
organics in the water, that might otherwise break down and feed problem
algae. On top of that, UV nukes the heck out of any algal zygotes,
fragments or microthalli that would colonize new surfaces in the tank.
