how time flies... turned another milestone 5 years mark for this tank...

hahaha nothing much to marvel about really... other than, I survived the 5 years milestone with this baby...

once I find some spare time, will post pics...

for now my mission is to discard excess stuff from this tank...

Ironically, after posting this milestone last week, my tank encountered a couple of painful events culminating in the catastrophic shutdown of my main return pump last night.

i only got to find about it this morning resulting in losses to my "back-up tang gang" in the sump tank... except for a survivor purple tang and a pair of true percs.

With this major setback, I lost 4 HYT's (XL, L sizes and plump fat ones) and 1 XL (Power blue tang). I used to be very proud of them... every day in the morning, they greeted me before I give them their food allocation before I leave for work and in the evenings, they greeted me again once I get home before dinner time.

main display tank (tang) crew was able to survive the ordeal due to continuous run of the Tunze and Vortech pumps.

this is a major set back. the back-up tang gang in sump tank has been there for more than 3 years now... they were fatter and more peaceful than the ones in the display tank. i will miss them badly.

at this point, i am seriously questioning whether to continue with it or just retire the whole set-up...

i can't help think that my posting exactly last week, created a jinx... how can i explain that after all these years, only after I posted last week and shortly after did I hit this major set back...

Sorry to have heard the bad news. Yes, you can call it a Jinx & it does happen in our daily lives, be it personal or material. I am pretty sure you'll feel saddened for a couple of days or so because of the lost but eventually will get over it. Would suggest you to continue & start stocking LS again & choose a different combinations of fishes. Good Luck!

thanks... tang gang in the display tank are still around.

survivor in the sump tank ended up to be just the PT and a true perc pair...

i appreciate them much more than before...

after some "planted" prodding from another "kind" member, I've re-invested into this tank...

adding more LED power into this tank... and retrofitting a holder for them...

managed to add PBT into main display tank's tang gang and also a back-up PBT into tang gang "B" into sump tank holding pen...

also, thinking on how to revive a Solaris LED assembly from parts of another unit given by a very friendly RP member... i wonder if there is a way to fuse the intelligence in the controller with other LEDs assembly kits from other manufacturers...
