Hi RP!
Just want to share my tank. The guys here at RP have been very helpful so far, so sa lahat ng napagtanungan at kinulit ko, maraming salamat.
Just a short intro, I've been keeping freshwater tanks for almost 6 years now. I maintained three tanks for a few years, one planted, one discus only and another planted discus tank. I had to let go of them at some point though as I got a new role at work that had me travelling 80% of the time. Here's a shot of my babies before I had them adopted:
Anyways, work stabilized and we fast forward to 1 year ago. I tried to reboot my old 50g tank into a saltwater tank. I failed miserably though and everything was dying even with the correct parameters and all so I decided to dismantle everything and I re-assessed the situation.
After a month or so of planning, I decided to try again, but this time, on a smaller 15gal tank. I left the tank cycling for 1 month, then added my clean up crew. I left it again for another month before I decided to add fish. I had no more equipment at this point (not even a testing kit) because I promised myself that I won't be spending anything on this until I'm sure that it will work dahil nasasayang lang. I only had my old canister filter, my old 30w light fixture and a cheap hydrometer. Everything else, I relied on my instincts.
Fortunately, everything went perfectly for 9 months and I decided to transfer everything to a new tank, buy better lights, and add some other equipment.
Here are my tank specs now:
Tank: Mr Aqua 30g low-iron tank (24x18x18)
Filter: Eheim 2217 Canister (I'm thinking of turning this into a reactor. Thoughts, anyone?) once I have a fuge/sump.
Stand: DIY wooden stand
Lights: China LEDs c/o Jancorwin
Livestock:
- 1 ocellaris clown
- 1 three-stripe damsel
- 2 yellow-tail damsels
- 1 yellow watchman goby and his partner in crime, a red banded pistol shrimp
- 1 long-nose hawkfish
- 1 purple-tip anemone
- 2 starfish and several snails
- 1 hammer coral (my tank's first non-clean-up-crew resident)
- several zoas, a leather coral and another thing that I forgot the name of, all donations from Jancorwin
- three patches of seagrass (ngayon parang five patches na)
Here are several shots of my tank. I was going for a minimalist rockscape pero nadadagdagan ng nadadagdagan yung rocks everytime I add something new to the tank.

Now:
I'm eventually planning to build a sump or a hang-on fuge for the extra clean-up and pod production at para matanggal ko na rin yung ibang rocks sa display. Puro easy to maintain corals muna ko ngayon, pero pag naka-ipon pa ko ng experience, I'm planning to add some SPS sa taas nung rockwork.
Again, thanks for all the help so far RP!
