Hi bro,

Not to sound like a party pooper but you have just effectively defeated the purpose of buying live rocks. Nakakahinayang lang talaga since harvested from the wild yang LRs at hindi sustainable iyan. Mas nakaka-damage pa naman sa reef ang collection niyan than collecting fishes and corals combined.

You should've just removed the decaying stuff and nuisance algae/pests then let the rock cycle on its own in a clean container full of saltwater stored in a dark area.

Anyway, andiyan na rin naman yan so you might as well use the rocks.
Cheers,
Marty

i do agree with seth.. pero one positive thing from what you did is that you will have no unwanted hitch hikers... minsan may mga eggs ng crabs, urchins, na nasa LR.. so pag nilinis mo, tanggal yun.. pero better dried rocks na lang binili mo.. tapos humingi ka na lang small rock sa established tank para may good bacteria ka for seeding..

Exactly the reason why I DIY my own rocks, and do not throw away dried rocks I formerly bought or friends give away. Sayang eh. :)

Re pests naman, as long as you put it somewhere without food for a few weeks, mamamatay rin naman sila, (take eunicid worms and "pest" crabs for example) kaya I find the reasoning behind boiling liverocks counter-intuitive and counterproductive.

Marty

@seth @obet_carlos

Masters, yung binili kong "live rocks" ay dried pero may amoy pa din kaya ko sya pinakuluan at hinugasan and when i saw a youtube video of that huge bobbit worm medyo cnonsider ko na lang yung matagal na cycling kesa may maging problem ako sa pagtagal. And very true, there was worms that popped out of the holes.

Sir eto yung long term plan ko.

Tank update.

Dahil holiday nakauwi ako sa bahay namin at nakagawa ng kontng progress...

Last sunday i was able to have the place cemented and tiled for it to be even.

I had the four pipes removed and changed it to 6 thick angle bars. I had the height increased also by 5 inches ata para mas may room sa sump area for the lamp or skimmer.

I painted it with epoxy primer ata basta yung anti rust as advised by reef master seth! (salamat sir)

Sound like a fine plan, Julius. Or just give it to another reefer that may need it. :D Stand looks good too!

Pagkatapos ng 7.2 earthquake sa VisMin area- trust me, you'll be needing gussets all around the tank.

Cheers,
Marty

I will try to finish it this coming vacation at sana matapos na. I just have some few questions reef masters!

1. Yung external tank ko ay nasa labas ng bahay one reason is ayoko lang sana ng may ilaw sa may sump area one reason is makatipid sa kuryente and two, natatakot ako na baka magkaron ng short circuit or ma ground dahil mageevaporate yung tubig and three, baka tumaas yung temp ng tubig dahil nakacover yung sump area. Ang balak ko sana ilagay dito mga master are yung mangroves and chaeto. Naka cover din ito ng mesh or pwede naman ako magpacustomize ng glass or acrylic cover para hinde alikabukin so ang naka expose lang is yung dahon ng mangroves.

3. Yung nasa may sump area ko na may fabric filter balak ko sana magpagawa ng acrylic or glass na parang compartment na two layers nasa top is yung fabric then yung nasa ibaba hinde ko alam kung ano ang magandang ilagay dun kung CC ba? Activated Carbon (tama ba? haha) or kung ano man ang isusuggest nyo.

Eto lang mga sir hopefully matapos ko na to by this coming weekend salamat mga sir!

Update

Dahil before pagkahaba haba nung overflow box nya. And i guess para maganda din yung ikot ng tubig.

Adding up salt...

Day 2

Sobrang murky ng water. Nagclear out na yan ng kont ias compared to yesterday after adding salt.

UPDATE

Re aquascaped my DT and placed 4 temporary wavemakers for better and faster flow.
Got a longer sump with 3 filter compartments in the left side of it and a wider middle area for macros and detrivores.
Changed my return pump to a Rio 14HF because my previous return pump got broken.
Changed the end part (nozzle) of the return pump.
Added a RO skimmer.

Next project:

Still contemplating between DIY Leds or China Leds but since i saw Master Marty's K9 lens update i'm 75% considering DIY Leds (Mukang malaking matitipid sa kuryente!) But again, i dont have the engineering skills for it hehe

My 4.5 month old tank journey/therapy from work stress :)

This video was around mid of April.

Pictures was around mid of April also.

My clowns were still orange that time. Newly procured from grahf11/Grahf the hentai tentacle master lol

Corals were bought from Grahf, Glenn and some are given by Loidimi

And some came from this place :)

These guys were given (not bought) to me by Grahf since they were starting to show necrosisis due to stress while in transport. Rescued the bigger part of both.

My LSs now.

I haven't placed my corals permanently since i'll be changing my LRs soon.
I did some DIY rocks which are currently being cured

pvc frames of my DIY rocks

My DIY leds

Will replace this once my orders from Florencio arrives.

My current fishes are...
2 clowns (mga anak ni grahf11)
HYT (from jourdy)
African blue midas blenny (recovered from the brutal battering of my starry/snowflake blenny which is now with justin)
Randall anthias
Yellow anthias (both came from a supplier who supplies Gatch exporters)
Full moon goby (also came from the supplier)

My uber gwapong blenny (thanks jourdy)

Yellow anthias

HYT

Inverts
3 cleaner shrimps
2 red blood shrimps
1 peppermint shrimp (na 2weeks ko nang hinde nakikita)
1 pistol shrimp (naglayas na ata)
I forgot the number of snails already but its more than 10

And my favorite...
Etitus Pasigensis!

Sump

And my DIY experiment

I will first observe this project. Chiller/freezer experiment.

WIll try to update this tom (inaantok na ko) :)
