Obet's 3rd Gen Reef

After a 125g reef (now a fowlr) and a 20g nano.. i decided to upgrade my 20g nano to a 44g reef.. the upgrade was due to a lot of factors like too little space in the nano for corals, the LED lighting got busted (driver and corrosion issues), and the ATO w/ kalk had a check valve problem.. all this happened during september-october when i was so busy and had no time to fix the problems..

The main tank will be upgraded to a 44g (36"x18"x16" (lxwxh)).. this will arrive on friday according to mang ramon.. the cabinet will be my old cabinet for my nano that will be modified.. still in the building phase.. 40"x20"x32" (lxwxh).. the place where the nano used to be located will be used for a frag tank.. maybe a 5" tall frag tank..

all the equipment will be the same except for the lights.. RO BP reactor(BR-70), RO Kalk Reactor(KR-100), and RO skimmer (NW-110 w/ pinwheel impeller)



the lights will be composed of 30-36 3W LEDs w/ 60 deg lenses.. not yet decided on the number of LEDs.. i will be using 3 china LED drivers that can drive 7-12 3W LEDs each.. the LEDs will be divided on 2 12" long heatsinks..

haven't decided yet.. most definitely ang kalalabasan nito, mixed reef.. gusto ko sps pero not sure kung maaalagaan ko ng mabuti.. nagstart to color up na yung sps ko before eh.. zoas din for sure meron.. ganda ng zoas eh..

ang lakas pala nung 3W pag naka lens.. iba.. next week na nga ako papasok, para matapos ko na tong tank.. sana dumating na sa friday yung tank.. by monday sana tapos na lahat..

mang ramon delivered the tank last sunday.. medyo natagalan bago namin na set-up kasi dumating sila kakastart pa lang ng pacquiao.. hehe!
marlon also went here to help in the design.. it is now in the aquascaping part.. will be buying thoroseal tom sa ace.. then plumbing and electricals.. then lights.. maybe 120W of LED would be ok.. yung ginawa ko for marlon was only 48W, mas malakas pa sa 150W MH.. also naka lens so yung spread hindi masyado and medyo yellowish kasi 1:1 (white:blue)..

a few questions though.. is it better to use bigger grain of sand or #0 boracay is better? is pylox reef safe? im planning to paint the pvc.. the pvc inside the tank was painted with krylon.. im concerned with the pvc going to the sump (drain).. planning to paint it white.. what paint should i use? epoxy ename? acrylic?

if your going to house sps and will use a lot of flow, i prefer #5 less hassle in terms of sandstorm.

for painting stuffs inside the tank, always use epoxy based paints. just make sure they get to cure and dry properly before you put them under water.
