Maraming ich-free tanks. Actually, people who use saltmix and observe the proper quarantine procedure don't have ich in their tanks. If you're using NSW, given na yun na may ich talaga yung tank.
What happened in your scenario is, meron lingering ich in your tank, pero mukhang 'nawawala' yung ich pag yung fishes mo are healthy and eating. Once they get stressed (new fish/bullied/starving) bago sila nagiging prone to ich outbreaks, and the parasites become seen by our eyes.
To make a tank ich free, you must catch all the fishes in your DT and quarantine them for 6-8 weeks (to make sure even the eggs die in the DT). The fishes in the QT should be treated under hyposalinity.. for a long time. Haha. Ganun usually standard operating procedure ng mga tao sa US and SG, as far as I have seen.
Hope that helps

.... It was indeed a big help, now I'm enlighten that only NSW user is very prone sa ich, and saltmix user has a lesser chance of having ich. That might trigger me to shift from NSW to saltmix.
