Jit's 35g - Sumpless and Skimmerless

After a few weeks reading on this forum, I was inspired by Sir Bri's 35Gal tank and decided to start a FOWLR setup.

Day 1

Bought a standard 35Gal Tank, OHF with Seaquest 1000l/h Pump, Hydrometer, API Test Kit, Wavemaker, Resun 2000l/hr Pump and Seagull Salt Mix

Tank Leak Test (24 Hours)


Sa sobrang excited pati tap water tiningnan sa hydrometer



Low Budget so I opt to use Purified Water and Seagull Salt Mix (Started Mixing using Pump and Wavemaker)

Day 5

Bought 22K LR, 25K Sand and Generic MH w/ Resun 10000K T5
Washed LR and Sand with Purified Water and started Aquascaping



Day 6

Test Water Parameters

PH - 8.2
NH3 - 0.5
No2 - 1.0
No3 - 20




Add 10 Medium size Shrimp







Day 7

Test Water Parameters

PH - 7.4
NH3 - 2.0
No2 - 1.0
No3 - 20

pa adopt mo muna LS mo sa iba yung meron na stable aquarium kawawa naman yung clown mo kung kasama siya sa cycling process mo...



hehehe kidding...

yung about sa automatic water top-up system (tama ba topup tawag or top off?) top up kasi pag dinagdagan ng engine oil ang kotse eh hehehe di ko alam bakit top off sinasabi ng iba..

anyway ATS meron ako suggestion kung gusto mo makatipid as in sobrang tipid without pumps nid mo lang air regulator valve and air hoses and a water container... ako ginamit ko yung lalagyanan ng mineral water yung square na may gripo... may takip yun sa taas na maliit... ginawa ko nag butas lang ako enough para mapasok ko yung air regulator valve (16pesos). Pinutol ko yung hose(20pesos) na nasa loob enough para umabot sa ilalim ng container.... and then dinugtungan ko yung other end ng air regulating valve ng isa pang hose at binagsak ko sa return chamber ng sump ko.... open valve then sinipsip ko konti yung hose enough para lang bumagsak na yung tubig.... ( pero di ko nilasahan yung tubig ha!) closed the valve then placed the container at a higher level above the sump. opened the valve until i could control the number of drips... tinancha ko lang and made a mark on my sump kung ano level siya talaga... observed it the next day and saw my level a little lower so i adjusted it and the next day i got it...

kano ginastos ko? 36 pesos hehee... HTH

1. Kailngan bang nakabukas yung ilaw habang cycle?
Nabasa ko kasi sa thread ni Xjers na 24/7 bukas yung ilaw niya while cycling.

Concern lang ako kasi up to now malinis pa rin yung tank ko.
Dapat ba maging madumi, just like on sir Xjers Tank




2. Kailngan ko bang alisin yung hindi nadedecompose na shrimp once ng spike na yung amonia to 8.0?

Buksan mo nalang ilaw para magka cyano and algae things na. I think it has to pass that stage.

As for the prawns tanggalin mu nalang. I think your tank has enough nutrients to cycle properly.

It's my third week of cycle and a bit worried kung cyano tong nasa LR?

thanks also for your step-by-step (with visuals) process and update posts. halatang nagbasa and research ka muna bago mo sinimulan. im doing the same thing now (basa and research) before i fully start with mine.

Question lang..
I did test my water paramaters a while ago after 20 days of cycle and it seems that results are excellent except for PH.



PH - 7.8
NH3 - 0
NO2 - 0
NO3 - 0

Paano ko ba mapapataas yung PH since ang recommended for marine tank is between 8.2 - 8.4?

Need advise sana kung pwede na ba ako maglagay ng LS?

jits nice! heheheh galing... katuwa naman ikaw nasa 20th day mo na... ako parang bumalik ako sa 6th day... so litaw sa iyo sa 7th day tumaas ammonia... sa akin nag tataka ako yung ammonia ko hindi pa rin lumalagpas ng 1 i dunno why nagdagdag na kaya ako ng 20 shrimps... anyway observe ko pa rin siya sa mga darating na araw...

nagbababasa basa ako mukhang ikaw maganda mag turf scrubber ka rin... sarap mag DIY nito yung akin baka try ko tapusin this weekend... pero di ko pa rin naman need eh after na ng cycling ko siya ilalagay... before ng corals... and 1 week before adding fish... unahin ko scrubber ko.....
about livestock...

ewan ko... pero tingin ko wag muna... parang nid mo rin hintayin mag die out yung algae na iba...
