After fairly successful with 30 gallon tank, I decided to set up a larger nano reef tank (45 gallon cube). The tank is designed to minimize pitfalls of a reef aquarium. I never bought pricy gadgets since I usually plan and fabricate my tank’s equipments. I am more fascinated with my corals thriving and seeing my DIYs working and doing their job.
To begin with, the stand is made of scrap wood

After reading a lot about reef tank lightings, I resided to use 14000K-150 watts metal halide with two 24 watts blue T5. I am using the mini luminarc reflector since the tank is just 15 inch deep; also, better light spread than that of lumenbright reflector.
Metal halide only
With blue T5
Another tank shot with equipments at the side; most equipments came from the 30 gallon tank
