Ako din may film algae kac gamit ko lang ung tap water dati. But I have a ro/di filter n just used last week. How's your natrate doing?

Gusto ko din sanang MH for my lighting pero malakas mag produce ng heat and mataas ung wattage which equal to high electric bill.

Live rock lang pla filter mo. How many kilos of LR do u have?
8kg lang kac ung LR ko I'm thinking of adding 3-5 more kilo. Meron aq canister for more filtration.

Can't wait to see the photos of your tank.

@darkstar, saan mo nabili ang tank mo? looks familiar kasi nakita ko ata ganito sa carti.

7500 with stand ata tapos may overhead filter and light na. although hindi ako sure sa light kung ilang watts kaya.

@april

my nitrate is below 20 ppm, I just need to change 5 gallons once a week.

yun din problem ko about having a Metal Halide lighting eh, tataas electric bill, hehe.

i have approx. 10 Kg or more dun sa tank ko, so far ok naman, but the problem is algae so i'm now in the search of a fish or inverts that will happily eat all the film algae, especially dun sa sand bed, bihira kasi yung mga nakikita kong mga fish dun sa mga foreign sites dito sa pinas, so mahirap, I just bought 5 more turbo snails to help keep the algae in check and an algae blenny, hope for the best na lang. :)

@natskie

I've been thinking about adding an inexpensive sump, kahit man lang yung mag-cocontain siya ng macroalgae, and I really like the idea of having pods in my tank, kaso laging kinakain nung dalawang false percs ko so they don't really have the time to reproduce, kaso ang problema ko is how to incorporate it to an already running tank, and saan ko din ilalagay :)

sa cartimar dun sa mga puro babae and puro tank yung tinitinda nila? I fell for the "Ready made setup" back then, I also persuaded my dad to build the tank from the ground up but he thought it's too expensive, eh yun pala in the long run mas expensive pala ang ready made, good thing the leak in my tank occured, so I had the chance to make it right, hehehehehehe.

the lights dun sa tank is really not recommended when keeping corals, it's only a T8 lamp, 30 watts, 2 x 15 watts, isang actinic isang 7500K lamp siya, tinanggal ko lang dito sa tank ko is yung filter and the lights.

I also noticed one thing, I buy LS from cartimar, whenever I try to drip acclimate my fish, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, they always end up dead, but whenever I try the freshwater dip bath in under 5 to 15 minutes, but depending upon the condition of the fish whether he/she's stressed or not, they end up living in my tank, back then I haven't got any success at false percs when I try to drip acclimate them, but then I tried FW dip on 2 false percs, they're almost a year old in my tank now.

Currently some of the corals here perished :cry: ang gaganda pa naman nila, ang natitira na lang is a cynarina, the violet ricordea, 2 mushrooms, anemone, and a bubble coral, I was using NSW, yun pala may nitrate yung NSW na nakuha ko :x right now I shifted to salt mix, ang baba kasi nung PH nung NSW, tapos may nitrate pa, nagipon muna ako para stock ng mga saltmix, luckily, may puregold Divisoria, na may Instant Ocean na 5 Gallons, sakto sa mga basyo kong 5 Gallon container, will post pics kapag maayos na ang lahat, I'm afraid to stock the tank kasi di pa ako nagwawater change nung Saltmix, di muna ako mag-iistock hanggat di pa lumalago yung current LS ko.

Update:

Switched to Saltmix, using Instant Ocean 5 Gallons from Puregold Divisoria, good thing may malapit dito, reason for switching is may 40 ppm na nitrate yung NSW, galing sa carti, ang baba pa ng ph, so after a week I changed 20% of the water with saltmix, after a few days, my Bubble coral, which is slowly dying, is now slowly regenerating, malaki ata nadulot na change dun sa parameters.

These two false percs have been with the tank for 2 years now, naranasan nila malagay sa batsa dahil nagkaroon ng leak yung tank ko, buti nga nakasurvive sila.

Orange na Ricordea, got this from nanay Aida.

permanently sticking to saltmix, para atleast walang nitrate or phosphate sa water, next time update ulit, para 2nd waterchange ng saltmix... :D

Been a while since my last update, and this tank went through a lot of problems, I purchased a skimmer which is a resun SK-300, and after that I saw good results, no more filthy long hair algae, and stick with instant ocean saltmix, 5 gallon water change every week, and so far the tank is running fine, I've also introduced some LS, my first ever successful CS, and a lawnmower blenny that chomped all of the algae off the rocks, he is so fat, and little :D i've been thinking of making a DIY nitrate reactor because that is the only last remaining problem of my tank....

here are some shots:

- I love this guy, he cleans my hands everytime I do a water change :D
Image

- I was able to save this from dying, right now it's so large almost 6 inches in diameter if viewed from the top

Image

- these two are almost two years old, and happy that they lived that long.

Image

- It's really rewarding once you got a hold of the routine and not neglect the tank
