lighting help for a 18x18x12(LWH) nano reef

sir/ma'am good day po, i'm a newbie here.. i need some help po for my nano reef lighting.. planning to set up a 17 gallon(18x18x12) nano tank..planning to put some corals and a pair of clowns.. ano po ang better lighting for my tank 1pc. par 38 70 watts MH or 1pc. par 38 150 watts na MH both from aquariatech link: http://aquariatech.multiply.com/photos/ ... #photo=22.. sabi po kasi ng brother ko baka daw sumobra init ng tank ko pag 150 watts ang nilagay ko.. and medyo mahal ang LED kaya mag MH n lang muna ako.. pa-tulong naman po mga master sa reef..

Same dimensions ng nano ko.

tama si master thurmac, pwede ang dual type 24w odyssey T5HO. yan ang una kong gamit, I then switch to a quad 24W odyssey. both sets are now retired and gathering dust kase nag LED na ako.

First of All, siguro it would be wise to know, ano bang LS ang balak mo ilagay with your nano tank. I think this is the first consideration before jumping out and buying the equipment.

Yes, Led maybe expensive, but it will prove to more cost saving in the long run especially pag dumating na ang meralco bill. Believe me i have for lamps all using t5s back then, and i dont appreciate the additional 5-7k in the electric bill. lol

I guess all of us will agree, nothing will beat the photosynthetic capability of the MH over and above all other lights in the market today. But yes, your kuya is correct, mainit ang halide so you will be needing a good cooling system unlike leds, there are even new units that doesnt need any colling system at all.

I had someone fabricate me a led from singapore for my nano, it cost me around 52 USD. it has 12 bulb per lamp with 4- 20000k, 4- 14000k and 4 royal blue 455. I have two lamp for my nano. LS are thriving good, i even think it is a little bit too much for the softies as they would always hide under the crevices. (depth is at 10")
