My 25 gallon

Hey guys,
3 years na yung 25 gallon namin na supposed reef, kaso palaging hindi nagtatagal yung reef.
Gusto ko sana mapatagal yung reef namin. So ibibigay ko yung alam mga details:

- Mature na yung aquarium, 3 years na syang tumatakbo.
- Nakuha lang namin yung aquarium as a full setup na galing Carti, kaya ndi ko alam yung lights nya.
- May nilagay kaming Queen protein skimmer at isang brand ng filter na tatlo ung filter cartridges nya.
- May live rock naman yung tank.
- NSR yung seawater namin, always.
- May fairly fast water flow naman, bigay ng filter at resun wavemaker (for small tanks)
- Walang space for a sump.
- Currently may 7 fish, 2 juvenile na blue tang, 2 ocellaris clownfish, 1 pyramid butterfly, 1 copperband butterly at 1 pajama cardinal.
- Yung PH nya ay palaging 8.0 at hindi mataas-taas.
- Currently may corals pa naman.
- Temperature is regulated through floating ice bags.

Anyway, may suggestions po ba kayo? May kulang bang equipment or other stuff?
Kung kulang ung binigay kong details, puede pong magtanong.

daming LS ng 25gal mo sir. nakapagtest ka na ba ng water parameters? ung lighting din kelangan malaman mo kasi corals need ng sufficient light for photosynthesis.. quad t5ho's, MH or Leds ang need mo.

1. What are your parameters? Salinity, temp, nitrates, ammonia, nitrites, alk, phosphate, calcium, magnesium etc etc etc.
2. Too much fish in a 25gal.
3. Butterflies are not reef safe.
4. Floating ice bags are not a stable means of controlling temp. Either use some fans or get a chiller.
5. Tangs are not nano fish.
6. What is your lighting?
7. How many kilos of LR and LS are you using?
8. Pics will help a lot in giving you advise.

Puede kong buksan yung aquarium hood para makita yung ligting nya. Nakita ko Coralstar yung kanyang tatak, no other details. Nakapagtest na ako ng parameters. zero nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia, carbonate hardness of 8 dkh, ph of 8, ndi ko pa alam yung calcium tsaka magnesium kasi mahal test kits eh (may efficient and cheap ba?).

Hm, ndi ko kasi alam kung saan makakakuha ng appropriate lights para sa tank eh, tapos medyo maliit pa yung hood. Carti ba puede?

About the LS, namatay na ung copperband (hinigop ng skimmer yung nguso) and reef safe naman yung Pyramid Butterfly (Hemitaurichthys polylepis) kasi ndi nya ginagalaw yung reef invertebrates.
Yung nanay ko ung bumili nung blue tang na dalawa eh, tapos buhay pa naman sila hanggang ngaun, mukhang plano nya mag-switch ng tanks kapag lumaki na ung tangs.
Cge po, try ko pong lagyan ng fans, pero ififigure out ko pa kung saan.
Yung lighting naman, hindi ko mafigure out kung ano eh, Coral star lang ung tatak nya, baka power compact lang cguro.
Sorry po, hindi ko rin po alam kung gaano karaming live rock or live sand yung nagamit eh.

1. An affordable test kit for calcium would be API. For magnesium there are other brands like sera and elos but these can get pricey.

2. Looks like your lights are 2 t5's. For fowlr tanks that would be enough but if you're going for a reef tank i would suggest at least 4 t5's with individual reflectors. You can look for the odyssea lights using 4 t5s. You can ask peter aka pugo1 (aquariatech) or some stores in carti.

3. Butterflies also are not reefsafe because they eat corals not just inverts.

4. I hope you will build a bigger tank for the 2 blue tangs. They can really get big in such a short amount of time.

5. As for your water parameters, everything looks ok naman. Just try to keep it stable.

blue tang requires at least 75 gallon tank.

2. Shandy_say, aling sikat na stores sa carti yung merong makukuhang 4 t5's na may individual reflectors na kasya doon sa lighting hood?

Napataas ko naman yung pH gradually to 8.4 using baking soda mixed with tap water. Mukhang temperature na lang tlaga tsaka yung lights ung kelangang ayusin. Any suggestions as to where to place the cooling fans? and if there are any fan specifications na kelangan pansinin?

Will be going to carti soon to get some detritus eaters and sand sifters.

Im not sure about the stores. You can go around and ask some stores there. Youre bound to find it. Just ask them for odyssea 4 t5s fixture.

Dont use tap water cause that has chlorine in it. Just buy some RODI water from your local water stations.

As for the fans, you can purchase a set from peter and you can just clip it on the edge of your tank pointing directly at your water surface. That will bring your temp down atleast 1-2 degress.

Btw, whats that filter you're using? Cant see it clearly from the pic.

Ok, will ask around the stores about odyssea 4 t5s fixture. Are you sure it'll fit in the lighting hood?

We've been using the tap water around our house, it hasn't been affecting the fishes' health. Ndi ko lang alam sa corals. Pero meron naman kaming Tetra Aquasafe (hindi ko na masyadong naalalang gamitin )

Aling forum puede magrequest kay peter tungkol sa fans? Ang daming forum na kasali sya sa usapan eh.
Inestimate ko ung temperature reading sa tank namin (sa hydrometer may thermometer), 33 deg celsius yung highest reading nya, so ang init talaga nung tank kapag naka-on cguro yung lights.

Tinapon na kasi ng kasambahay namin yung box ng filter eh, so clearer pictures na lang mabibigay ko.
