hi... just new in the neighborhood. Just want to share lang po about my marine tank. Starting to make it a reef tank. Ang ginagawa ko pang top-off na water ay distilled water or filtered water or kung talagang walang-wala ay tap water po. What I am doing is placing a 1.5 ltr water sa fridge for 2 to 3 days before ko isalin sa tank. I have been doing it for years now when I started and 20 gals pa lang ang tank ko. It worked for me. Ngayon po ay 30 gals na ang aquarium ko na on the way na po to be a reef tank. I have 3 anemonies, 1 flowerpot coral, 1 hammer coral, 1 frog spawn coral, 1 tomato clowfish, 1 bi-color cherub angel, and 1 yellow watchman gobby. Will add brain & tooth coral maybe next month. Ang problem ko lang po lalo na kung summer ay yung temp. I am planning to buy a fan soon.

tap water is a big no no, may phosphate, nitrate, silicate, flouride, chlorine, chloramine to name a few... baka hindi kayanin ng setup mo... gusto mo libreng tubig na pwede mo top off or pang saltmix? here's a tip ipon ka tubig ulan sa isang malaking timba... huwag yun galing sa bubong at may dumi ng pusa or ibon yun... pag buhos ng ulan bigyan mo muna ng 15-30 mins downpour bago ka magipon para hindi acid rain makuha mo... acid rain is heavy pollutted air + rain...

Hi! Thank you very very much po kina sir reeflatz and thurrmac. I am now very aware of my top-off water. Puede po ba itago yung maiipon kong rain water? Honestly, though I have been keeping saltwater tank for 7 years now, I have very limited knowledge pa din. Kasi po my economic status is what you can call poor . But I have become very interested with this hobby. I started my aquarium (fresh water) keeping since grade 5 pa ako... medjo may edad na din po ako e... hehehe. When I decided to switch to saltwater tank after reading books sa National Bookstore , I started a 20 gal fish only. Began with damsels, to trigger, to angel fish, to tangs. Slowly changed to all clownfish with anemonies when the movie Finding Nemo wa shown. Gusto kasi ng daughter ko makita ng live si Nemo... heheh . I know that I still have a lot to learn and to have (well... equipments and additives wise). I am just relying now on my experience (bad and good) to maintain my 30 gal (now going to reef) tank with sump. I will try to post the picture of my tank. So far all the LS are doing fine for months now. My protein skimmer is just a small one na nakalagay sa sump. With my current status, am I worth staying in this hobby, and also sa RP?

Good day sir reeflatz! Thank you very very much sa reply nyo sa last post ko. Salamat at nagbigay ka ng time para basahin at sumagot. Alam mo, yung sump ko ay minodify ko lang. Lumang 10 gals yun ng pinsan ko, tapos nilagyan ko lang ng mga glass partitions. Around 200 pesos ang ginastos ko po dun including yung silicone na pandikit. Gusto ko lang ngayon ma-enhance yung media ng sump ko.
