Just tell the store to double bag it and that your going to bring it abroad. make sure they put enough water so that even if the bag is sideways, the fish will still be okay. just get the plastic and put it in a shoebox and check that in. i did it and it was fine. just make sure your bag isnt so tightly packed.

i have not had any casualties so far. i brought on separate occasions a purple tang, a hawaiian flame wrasse, 2 helfrich firefish, flame angels.

if i had casualties, its usually months after, like when a fish goes missing for no reason or just stops eating.

pinas madali lang, just tell them its a gift to your daughter or son or nice, etc. if they want to quarantine the fishes then tell them you'll just give to them but if it dies then its their responsibility. most of the time, they'll let you pass. hehehe

pagnahulihan ka ng coral, you'll definitely go to jail. its illegal in our country to possess corals for personal consumption.

Is'nt it illegal to check in large quantities of liquid ? You know HKG baggage counter personel are very strict. Has anyone been asked to open their baggage after Xray screening?

Not really. Its only illegal to bring local corals. if its imported that should be fine but only in small quantities. quarantine only checks randomly and so long as you dont put it in a box that looks suspicious, you should be okay.

its only illegal to hand carry large amounts of liquid but its not illegal to check it in and in HK they dont xray at the door, they do it after you check your bags in and they dont mind corals.

for me personally, the price difference is what makes it worth it. its so much cheaper to buy fishes there. most stores have deliveries everyday so its always smart to check once a day. yat wong aquarium in tung choi street in particular has good prices because they have fish in huggeeee quantities. imagine hundreds of PBT in one tank and they get sold pretty fast.

Ah ok. Well explained I am contemplating on buying some livestock there but am not pretty sure it is goin to be successfull & worth the cost
