Technical Grade? Safe or not?

Hello everyone! I've been using Calcium Chloride (Food grade/USP) for my calcium supplement from allysons pero its been 3 or 4 months na silang walang food grade or usp grade... Technical Grade lang daw.. Is it safe to use? and what is the difference of those pati what might happen to my tank if I use tech grade?

Usually refers to purity. Food grade is more pure than technical grade (you can tell by the pricing). So baka di safe yan kasi di mo alam kung ano pa yun ibang kasama (might be heavy metals).

yup, heard of that but im not sure kung pwede ba siyang ipang supplement...also, i dont know anyone using technical grade suppliment. Ang mahal kasi ng commercial calciums... compared to food grade/usp grade na calcium.. times 7-10 yung price.

The problem with technical grade (being the lowest grade ) is you could never know what and how much impurities are present. Pwedeng ammonia pala ang present or worse, metals and other residues or salts that can be harmful for corals.

Usually dito sa atin, USP, Food Grade, Analytical, Technical at Industrial grades ang available. If I remember correctky, TG and IG are used interchangeably depende kung anong chemical ang binili mo.

Anyway, try to pm Nes (naivete) and ask if he still sells CaCl. Pagkaalam ko kasi meron sa Sytengco dati. FG pa.

glad to help, pag wala sa alysons at sytengco, try mo sa atkimsons. Yari tayo kung wala nang makukunan ng high purity CaCl.

not sure if meron or wala sa atkimson pero sure ako na hindi sila nag sell ng retail.

subukan nyo sa RTC Lab services & supply house sa Proj 2 QC. Sa kanila ako bumili ng Calcium Hydroxide dati lab grade daw. Meron naman cguro sila calcium chloride. Tel no nila 443-7759. HTH

may retail pa rin nga sila. unfortunately, industrial grade. (almost, if not exactly the same as TG).

pag naubos yung TM ko wala na rin akong stock niyan. Hay.

kung flakes type yan baka gaya ng peladow yan na ginagamit para pang de-ice ng kalsada.

Pag technical grade pwedng bang after mo mix with ro water ay hayaan mo mag settle sa bottom yun impurities maybe for 3 days tapos use siphon mo slowly clear part and dont use the bottom part?
