mariner, before i have the same dilema as you have... i dont like my aquarium to be drilled but after reading and asking allot of people it is cheaper and more effective to drill an aquarium and to have a sump in a reef system... you can get away with a non-drilled aquarium if your going to have a FOWLR system but its so hard to maintain a reef system without a sump and drilled aquarium.. overflow box can help you in not drilling your aquarium but when the syphon breaks your problem starts... hope i answer some of your questions...

ayaw ko ring pabutasan dahil natatakot ako baka mabasag kasi luma na ang tank ko. pero naisip ko baka bumaha sa loob ng bahay pag nagka siphon break. at saka mahal din ang overflow box. kaya, pinabutasan ko rin ang tank ko. (sumugal na lang ako)

i think kaya. but you have to hang lots of stuff sa likod ng tank mo like skimmer, small fuge, fluidize reactor, etc. whatever you want to add sa likod or sa loob ng display tank mapupunta.

pag naka sump ka, pwede mo lagay sa sump yung mga equipment mo, malinis ang display tank.

akin la sump,filter ko lang ay hang-on na fiberglass,na may biofibres,no3 away,multi-zeolite,and liverock na maliit,pero la pa yung 1 gallon.and may air-driven skimmer ako sa loob ng tank(sobrang pangit tignan),pero mas maganda talaga naka-sump,mas marami ka malalagay.pwede mo tignan tank ko sa member's tank,hehe,pero buti naman zero nitrate ko,hehe.pero i will advice you to get a sump,mas malaki chance na maging successful ka.
