Is this the Red Hermit Crab?

I just want to make sure kasi baka nagpapanggap lang mapahak ang iba. Will he not bother the nazzarius snails??

i have this hermit in my tank right now mag 2 weeks na siya under observation this one and the other hermit na green ang paa. i found out that the green leg hermit eh kinain ung mga nassarius snails and turbo snails ko kaya out na sila. etong red na to i put him inside a small container sa fuge together with the green leg pero may divider then gave them both fish meat the green leg immediately fight for the meat pero eto didnt even taste it but when i put LR on it dun sya nagstart mag pick sa rock ng kung ano2. but reading articles sa net as far as i remeber with caution daw sa reef tank. so under observation sya now

and yung mga turbo snails ko di nya ginagalaw and pinapansin. try to google dardanus megistos

I have a hermit crab that looks exactly like that...I placed it in my sump among the LRs with a few nassarius, it didn't bother the snails for quite some time but just a few days ago, I think it needed a bigger shell ( i placed a number of empty shells in the sump for it but it did not seem to notice them), so it killed one of the nassarius snails and took its shell...

Wooow  okay, I'll buy empty & bigger shells for him so he will not bother getting mr. nazzarius' shell, weird i hope he really wants a bigger shell.

The White-spotted Hermit Crab "Dardanus megistos" is not safe for a reef aquarium because it will eat tube worms, mollusks, and fish. It will also eat algae. In a community tank, however, it will keep the sand sifted with its constant search for food. It is best to keep just one specimen per tank, since it is aggressive towards other Hermit Crabs. It is believed that it may also snack on Aiptasia anemones, but how effective it is at eliminating these pest anemones has not yet been determined.

Moved him in the sump. I won't take any risk. But i'll still buy him empty shell, he deserved it coz he did some sand cleaning with no casualty :-)
