Cyanide Poisoning

Is there anything we can do for fishes that are caught using cyanide, is there a cure for cyanide poisoning? We all know that if the fish came from Cartimar, there is a great chance that it is "cyanide caught". I was talking to a guy from Edna's Pet shop in Cartimar, I was asking where do they get their fish, he said their suppliers come from Zambales, Batangas and other provinces, typical answers. The thing that suprised me was when I asked if the fishes are cyanide caught, I thought he's gonna answer, "sir hindi po cyanide caught yan", yun kasi parati answer ng mga shops dun. Pero kakaiba yung sagot nya, eto sabi nya, "sir wala po kayo makukuha dito sa Cartimar na saltwater na hindi cyanide caght, pwede pa yung mga damsel kasi madali lang silang hulihin gamit ang lambat". Sya pa lang yung tinanong ko dun na sumagot ng ganun, well, I think he's telling the truth kaya nagtatanong ako kung may magagawa pa ba sa mga fish from Cartimar?

Methylene Blue and cyanide

The properties of the drug as an oxygen transporter (it converts methemoglobin to the normal oxygen carrying component of fish blood, hemoglobin) allow it to be used in the treatment of known cyanide and nitrite poisoning of aquarium fishes. It has been suggested that newly arrived marine fish placed in Methylene Blue can have their survival rate increased as Methylene Blue aids in the reversal of nitrite and/or cyanide poisoning.

As an aid in reversal of nitrite (NO2-) or cyanide (CN-) poisoning of marine and freshwater aquarium fishes:
(a) Remove carbon filter and continue to operate with mechanical filter media throughout the treatment period.
(b) Add 1 teaspoon of 2.303% Methylene Blue per 10 gallons of water. This produces a concentration of 3 ppm. Continue the treatment for 3 to 5 days.
(c) Make a water change as noted and replace the filter carbon at the conclusion of the treatment. parasite protozoans."

For use as a dip for treatment of fungus or external parasitic protozoans and cyanide poisoning:
(a) Prepare a nonmetallic container of sufficient size to contain the fish to be treated by adding water similar to the original aquarium.
(b) Add 5 teaspoons (24.65 ml) per 3 gallons of water. This produces a concentration of 50 ppm. It is not recommended that the concentration be increased beyond 50 ppm.
(c) Place fishes to be treated in this solution for no longer than 10 seconds.
(d) Return fish to original aquarium.

kaya siguro nabuhay mga fishes ko na galing cartimar dati dahil sa FW dip with meth blue. ngayon ko lang nalaman na pwede pala pangcombat ng cyanide yan. ok pala yung ginagawa ko kung ganun.

sa cartimar ka din dba kumukuha ng fish sir chonglai? since I started kasi sa cartimar lang din ako kumukuha eh. mataas talaga mortality rate ng isda dun. regarding dun sa FW w/ MB dip, last month I started doing it to the fishes that I got, pero hindi lahat na treat ko nito. But after reading the earlier post of Fugu, I made it a habit na yung FW w/ MB dip. Yesterday I got 1 female swallow tail angel fish from Cartimar and did the procedure and now nasa QT na siya under observation. kaninang umaga kita ko na kumakain naman, sana tuloy tuloy na.

Sir chonglai, paano mo i-acclimatize yung fish before doing the procedure?
