"As the parasite often settles on the gills first,the earliest sign of ich is accelerated respiration.Very small white dots appear on the skin,sometimes immediately,sometimes later,these are clearly visible,particularly on the fins.During this primary stage,when there are few such visible symptoms,the fish rubs against stones,corals,other materials.At a later stage the fish completely covered with powdered sugar.If the disease is not checked,the eyes become affected,and the mucous skin gets course.Respiration becomes more and more labored,and the fish hangs about at the water surface or lies on the bottom breathing heavily.When it is full-grown,it leaves the hosts and sinks to the bottm,where it forms a sporocyst(a type of sac).In this it divides into two daughter cells,which in turn divide and so on."
