how to handle AEFW?

Postby jerickson81 » Mon Mar 14, 2011 11:21 pm

i recently lost all my acros and milles due to AEFW. i've done my share of research on the issue. but i believe i need more input on it. there were some faults on my part, like not all my corals were dipped before putting it in the DT. completely my fault and the damage has been done. so no point on dwelling and to just charge it to experience and keep moving forward. it was sad because most of the efforts i put into my tank was to try to keep these corals happy.

there are some questions i still have:
1)do they only affect acros and milles?
2)how long should i keep my tank free of these SPS before its safe to do so again?
3)what equipment changes would help?
4)what fishes would help?
5)prevention?

TIA. i really love how these corals beautify my tank and would want to put some again in the near future. i just want to be sure that this time around they will survive. i don't want to just put it there for the aesthetics, i don't want to be a coral killer (actually i feel guilty for my loss) i like taking care of them and watching them grow and change into better looking colors, much like tending to a garden.
