If it is whitish in color it can tetrahymena or costia infection, it is protozoan type so you can use Methylene Blue to kill it. Highly conatgious so you must treat it immediately. it can kill your fish because it can expose it to many bacteria. it is usually from a poor water condition, overcrowding or poor diet. Fin rot starts at the ends of tails to the body also with the fins. It looks like a whitish coloration or transparent. You can treat it with the same.
