I also have a lot of those red turf algae on my rocks. My parameters are almost the same with yours, i ithink our problem is the top off water we buy from water station, tds of my top off water
is around 20, maybe that's too high? we need to invest in ro/di unit na haha gastos nanaman

bro, IMO pwede pa rin naman ang water from water stations. I would suggest na magscout kayo ng mga water refilling station sa vicinity nyo. In my experience, kapag mas mahal ang per container mas maayos ang water nila. Hehehe.. From experience lang naman yun. Matinik din kasi ang panlasa ng gf ko pagdating sa tubig, di kasi sya nagta-tap water kaya kahit lokohin ko sya na mineral water yun pero tap water yun, alam pa rin nya. Tapos nagtry ako na palitan ng ibang water from other water refilling station. Di nya gusto kasi may lasa daw na magara. Haahaha..

About turf algae, naging nightmare ko yan. I battled turf algae for many months. Guess nyo kung san nanggaling ang turf ko? ATS! I dont know kung mag-agree kayo sa akin pero naging bangungot ng tangke ko yan to the point na gusto ko na i-restart ulit ang tangke ko and worst, gusto ko na mag-QUIT from this hobby dahil sa turf algae na yan. Kahit anong gawin ko ayaw mawala ng turf. Kahit i-brush ko mga bato, siphon the detritus bumabalik pa rin ang turf! At ang nakakatawa dun, di sya lumalabas sa test kit! Bina-bind ng turf ang nitrate and phospate ko. Tinatago nya ito at maniniwala ka na ok na parameters mo. Buti nakuha sa tyaga.. Turf off my ATS, Turn off my Sump lights, no lights for 3 days, shorten the lighting period, 20% water change everyday (ang gastos sa saltmix!), purigen, rowaphos at buti nakita ko ang fruits of my labor. Unti unting nawala ang turf.. Whew! nakahinga ako ng maluwag after ng bangungot ko na yan sa turf.

Sana di na ulit mangyari yun..

Kaya ayaw ko sa ATS, unless masipag ako mag-WC. Sobrang sakit sa ulo i-manage niyan haha. Yung saken dati galing kay roy ahahaha 6 months straight aggressive WC, GFO plus heavy skimming at 2 urchins bago nawala ng tuluyan LOL! Mas mahirap pa lalong mawala yan kapag skimmerless at madaming detritus, kasi nagpo-promote pa lalo ng growth dahil sa mga naka-bind na nutrients.

@richard mga limpets, urchins at chiton natural grazers ng turf at reef safe sila generally speaking. Baka makatulong din.

Got same problem few months back..though I didn't check my tank parameters, I believe I had poor water quality. My 5 year old percula and yellow tank died, zoas closed for couple of months. I removed the entire rock scape...scraped algae on the rock surface and performed 100% water change. Zoas are now in openning so with my other LPS .

@richard: bro, kung i-brush mo yung rocks, tanggalin mo muna sa tangke. Kasi imbis na mawala ang turf, lalong kakalat yan. Magugulat ka na lang dumami lalo ang turf algae! Maiiyak ka sa inis! Heheh
