Kermit the hermit molted

Postby searaine » Tue Apr 13, 2010 12:24 pm

I just want to share:

My hermit crab molted last holy week. Being the inexperienced and uneducated tank owner that I am, I thought it had died and immediately took out the legs from the tank.
And because it was holy week, I again thought that my Kermit resurrected from the dead when it showed up happy and hungry.
Later research told me that this is in fact called molting.

Lesson learned:
Hermit crabs eat the expelled legs for protein supplement during molting recovery.
I gave him a piece of shrimp as peace offering :D .
