How important is water flow?

Postby drmikelangelo » Wed Oct 25, 2006 10:20 pm

Here are some articles that are very interesting dealing with the importance of flow and its relation with light intensity

Great articles! Mike Paletta was here for a seminar last weekend and he touched on this subject as well.

Just like to add this:

http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2007/1/aafeature/view

It discusses Gyre Tanks, and I believe is a must read
And God said let the water teem with living creatures and he saw that it was good.

magtanong lang ako mga sir.. meron kasi akong sunsun pump na rated for 5000/L sa 15g tank ko, ok lang ba un? kasi almost 1k+ gals un e.. ede around 100x ang turnover ng water ko. tinapat ko siya sa tank wall para mareduce ung flow chaka di naman nadidisturb ung sand bed sa DT. is it ok? do i have to replace it?

i have 2 of those in my 75 gal. minsan may small twisters, fine kasi yung sand ko. pero pag nakasawsaw kamay ko at pinapakiramadaman ko yung flow parang ang hina na especially 2 feet from the powerhead, kaya di ko rin masabi practically kung kulang o sobra yung turnover of that particular pump sa akin.

pero ang alam ko mas maganda pag mas irregular ang directions ng flow to replicate the randomness of real waves in the ocean.

yan ba yung 12W? 1 ganyan sa 15g? sure ka? yung iba nga nalalakasan sa 6W sa mga 30g eh.. water flow would also depend greatly sa aquascape mo.. kaya hindi lang aesthetics yung aquascape.. IME, less LR, more circulation.. in my 125, 1 seio m620 is what im using.. that's 620gph ata.. im not sure about the rating.. might change it to a 12W sunsun.. sa 125g, abot from dulo hangang dulo (6ft) yung current niya..
