Beware of the saltwater for sale at marine quest. I tested their water many times and discovered that it has 20 ppm of nitrates.

in my experience... i can't trust NSW... it carries pests, aside from being it a used water that carries more than the acceptable amount of nutrients. what i do is i buy salt mix, kahit mura lang... mix it with aged, and conditioned tap (thanks to sera aquatan). i test the water for any offs... sometimes i get low calcium. what i do is i just add calcium chloride, sodium bicarb, and sodium carb (10% of total amt of sodium bicarb), natural trace, red sea's calcium, strontium, iodine, molybdenum, and stress coat (API). so far.. everything's doing great in my DT.... obviously when using tap... you will be more concerned with the tds that raises the number of my brown algae... before it used to be like everywhere in my tank, until i discovered the power of ATS... minimum algae in DT (plus the turbo snails), more algae in ATS, 0 phospate, 10ppm nitrate. well that's how my tank goes... it might be good for my set up, but not for others...

hi, i'm planning to get a new LR from a LFS here in thailand.

yung nakita ko sa shop is mukhang cured na, parang matagal ng nakalagay sa aquarium na may kasama ng mga isda. may mga coralline algae na at kung anu-anong hitch-hikers...

my question is if i will get that LR, kailangan ko paba ulet i-cure?

also, before i get the rock, i am planning to prepare the water/saltmix... for how long na kailangan nakaprepare (saltmix and water mixing in a tank/container with powerhead/wavemaker) muna before ko na pwedeng ilagay yung LR ko.... enough naba ang 24hours then pwede ko na ilagay yung LR?

day 4 ng cycle ko. with LS & LR on a 75g tank.. Problem is day 2 plang ng LR ko is ang daming die off including crabs and lobsters etc. tinanggal ko na po sila isa isa.. Pero and bumabagabag (lalim no) sa aking isipan ay 1 of my LR looks good on top but I noticed some black powder on the sand and nung binaliktad ko ung Rocks maitim yung ilalim and mabaho amoy malansa.. Ano po kaya ito and anong dapat kong gawin dito... Thanks Brother..

may mga question po ako regarding sa LR. sa mga nabasa ko po dito. tama po ba ang pagkaintindi ko po. na yung LR dapat po e cure ng 6-8 weeks. basta po yung amonia ay mataas dapat po mag palit ng tubig po?

2nd pwede po bang linisin yung LR na naka lubog na po sa aquarium ng ilang weeks, kung sakaling mabaho po?

3rd sa paglinis po ba ng LR dapat po saltwater o saltwater mix. po?
4th after po ba e brush pwede na po ibalik ulit sa aquarium o dapat po e bilad pa po ulit?
5th pwede po ba pag nag cycle po ng LR in first week dapat po ba e on ang skimmer?
6th yung aged water po ba. ito po ba yung mix saltwater nakatago sa balde naka seal? gaano po pwede katagal ang pagtago po ng tubig na ito? paano po kung nabawasan due to evaporation. mag refill po ba ako ulit po?

newbie po, ask ko lang po I bought LR sa Carti then sun dry it for 2 days then soaked it in RO water overnight, ang daming lumabas na mga green colored worm na deadz na(im not sure kung worm). ok lang ba yung o kelangan sa tank yung. thanks po

One thing to remember about cycling: All you are really doing is letting the dead organic material inside (and on) the rock decay, which means the organics are being eaten by microbes and bacteria.

This is why drying rock in the sun, or bleaching the rock, does not do anything. It just kills the life in (and on) the rock; it does not remove it.
