NEED HELP (unknown cause of fish mortality)- New Member

Hi Sirs/Ma'am,

I will need your help figure out whats happening to my salt water tank, new member lang po ako dito but ive been reading and checking posts here and talaga pong helpful ang site nato sa hobby natin i thought enough na po na nagbabasa ako dito ang learning on my own pero recently ive been helpless and frustrated and saddened by what happened to my fishes, let me give you a little background about my tank and what happened recently, 3yrs napo running ang 50gal display tank ko and 30gal sump since then meron nako yellow tang (local), sailfin tang, blue tang, foxface, tomato clown, 2 small damsels and mga 2 weeks ago I added anthias, small-medium powder brown tang (all from cartimar).

4 days ago napansin ko wala na yung yellow local tang ko, i dont think tumalon sya out of the tank kasi wala naman sa floor di ko alam kung namatay sya at nasa bandang likod lang sya nag end dahil madami po akong LRs sa display tank ko, 2 days later yung isang damsel namatay, tapos this morning nakita ko naghihingalo na ang foxface and namatay sya an hour later, then yung sailfin ko nung later afternoon tapos just now yung blue tang.

wala naman po sila sugat and before silang namatay walang disease at least yung visible or obvious indications na stress sila dahil sobrang lakas pa nila kumain at malakas lumangoy basta suddenly namatay nalang sila. sobrang nagtataka po ako at nalulungkot dahil they've been with me for 3 years and clueless ako anu nangyayari nakakadown na inalagaan ko sila ng ganung katagal tapos right away namatay sila agad knowing na kahit papano hardy yung mga isda na yun based sa mga nababasa ko. so far wala naman pog namamatay sa mga ilang corals ko.

SIRS/MA'AM BAKA PO PWEDE NYO AKO TULUNGAN KASI NAKAKAAWA NA MAMATAY SILA NG GANUN - im hoping you could help me figure it out para ma save pa yung ibang natira. By the way nung nakita ko pong namatay yung sailfin tang nagwater change agad ako ng 20%.

Tingin ko mi disease/infection ka na na-introduce sa tank mo from your recently added fishes. Nag quarantine ka ba ng bago mong bili? Or at least did you do some dips? Kung wala, malamang meron ka na introduce na pathogen sa tank mo. I would suggest a massive water change, pero wag mong biglain, say 20% now, 2 days later, another 20%, and so on. Continue doing so until you have completely changed your water.

Pwede ka rin mag setup ng hospital tank, kaso without you knowing what disease it is, medyo mahirapan kang i-treat yan. If you could post pics, more description ng mga dead fishes mo I'm sure yung mga master dito can help you with your problem.

must be parasites, carti fishes is teeming
with parasites...

Bro, I'm not an expert pero from what I read, I got a feeling kung anong nangyari.. but before that I'll answer you with a series of questions din:

1. Did you quarantine your fishes before you add them to your aquarium? If not, did you add the fishes together with the saltwater of the LFS?

2. Did you test your parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)?

3. Before your local yellow tang died, may namatay ba na fish? After your yellow tang died & not finding out where the tang went, have you tried precautionary measures like testing your water params & adding Prime to detoxify the ammonia spike?

4. Did you check your skimmer or other filtration if its working the way they should work?

5. Did you change your feeding regime? Overfeeding is one hell of temptation to most aquarist but could cause ammonia spike=stress fish=Poison=dead fish!

From there, I think you'll find the answer.. if I forgot something, please feel free to add na lang.

Tama sila, malamang nagkasakit yung mga isda mo, kung wala namang nabago sa tank mo maliban sa pagdagdag ng isda.

I'll stress again how important it is to set up a QT. Napakaraming problema ang pwedeng maiwasan kung may QT.
