Fish died due to cold water???

Postby richardhao » Thu Oct 04, 2012 7:37 am

Saw my pbt and lemonpeel angel dead this morning. Yesterday they are full of life and voracious eaters. Now the fishes in my fowlr all have white spot. I suspect its because of the cold weather. Usually my temp stands at 28 to 29.5 deg celsius ( tama ba spelling ) but as of this morning it was 26. Could it be the reason?

how long have the fishes been aroun? maybe this is due to the sudden change in temp.. 26 deg celsius is not that cold.. some reefers maintain their tanks at that temp..

I doubt that. I keep my reef at 25 and everything is ok. Perhaps check for signs of disease that arent so obvious like velvet? DId you add anything new to the tank?

highly doubt that.. at night, my temp reaches as low as 22c, averages at 24.. any physical symptoms?

Sorry for that unfortunate incident. I know for a fact that it's not the sudden change of temperature. Most probably the culprit would be some kind of sickness that have stricken the fishes.

maybe its an ich outbreak nga. I didnt add any new fishes, but i just transferred them to a larger tank, last week monday. they were doing really fine, healthy appetite, no nips on the fins or body. then suddenly eto na nga. lahat ng isda sa fowlr may white spot, except the ones on the cube, nemo lang at bicolor blenny. as of the moment, struggling si dory, the other 3 fishes are swimming naman. hopefully maka recover. sayang lang yung namatay na dalawa, bukod sa pricey ay may buhay kasi. bought the lemonpeel from aquareef, then the pbt kay d.a. anyway, life must go on.. hay..

Would suggest you do a water change ( 20 - 40% ) to lessen the ich contamination or best to transfer all LS to a new tank with hypo salinity. Set back just happens with regards to our tank, sometimes at no warnings at all. Just re stock & invest again bro. :)
