DIY Reef Food

For fishes and corals.

New recipe. Pang-lahatan na including corals. Nagustuhan naman ng mga mokong. LOL

If you guys are not familiar with the DIY Food Pappone, try searching that. It was very popular with Italian SPS reefers a few years back. The recipe was good and was proven very effective. Users swear by it. Parang ganito lang din, except I do not use mussells as they may be vibriostatic and may contain pathogens.

Ingredients:

•1 tbsp each Ocean Nutrition flakes and SERA granumarin

•4 pcs shrimp, deveined and washed
•4 pcs baby squid, body only. Washed
•1 tbsp each shrimp and flying fish roe
•1 sheet nori
•1 cube PE mysis

•1/2 tsp yeast. Para saan? Dunno. But it works. Haha. Seriously though, yeast is rich in beta glucan and essential amino acids. Been using it years back when my friends had NPS systems without any problems. Hindi instant setups, but full blown reefs that have been running for many years. :p

•A pinch of sugar. Even added a few drops of clover honey for lulz.

Directions:
Mince well, freeze then cut into portion sizes. Feed sparingly. Although I feed this once or twice daily.

Some tips:

•Always devein the shrimp and wash thouroughly.
•Completely gut the squid and do not use the head and tentacles. Wash thoroughly!
•Do not overdo the sugar and yeast. Too much will cause bacterial bloom because of too much carbohydrates.

•Roe and Nori are available at Cartimar. Doon sa mga Japanese Food Stores. I am not sure if PE mysis are available here, but you may use mysis or baby brine shrimp.
•Adding selcon, spirulina, chlorella and cyclopeeze to the mix is an excellent idea. They may be a bit expensive but worth every peso.
•You may use other brands of fish food, but steer clear of cheapo brands that contain fish meal, bone meal or anything similar. Cheap brands typically have ridiculous amounts of phosphate in them. Don't use flavored nori as well.

Hiwain mo lang ng konti sa gitna tapos sungkitin mo yung itim na "ugat" niya. Medyo matrabaho nga lang lalo kung maliit yung hipon hehe.
