is stainless steel coils safe?

planning to do an experimental cooling device.
but i need to know if pumping our saltwater thru a stainless steel coil pipe safe for our fishes and or inverts? i read somewhere copper could be good at certain levels to kill parasites and such but deadly at a high levels so copper is out of the question. preferring metal for better conduction.

Stainless will still form an orange film (rust color)when immersed in saltwater. I have tried that a few years back. The film will just wash away but I think that it is still rust. The surface of the stainless just does not get rough like regular metal. In my opinion, it is not safe.

thanks for the reply, looks like make due with plastic tubes. planning to freeze the coils in pykrete ice.
