Postby blackwing02 » Mon Jun 27, 2005 6:46 pm

as i read from thread to thread, i notice some terms used which makes me flip my brain.

so i decided to start a thread saying the abbreviations, terms and meaning.

i managed to understand: (correct me if i'm wrong.. )
FOWLR -> fish only with live rocks -> tank w/o corals..
RO -> reverse osmosis -> ??? i only know it's about water and purification.

now, maybe you guys could enlighten us, noobs.

(Greek: spine, bristle; long, flowing hair)

Chaetomorpha has plenty of genus/species depending on it's location such name as Chaetomorpha obscura Kjellm found in Sri Lanka or Chaetomorpha sphacelariae Foslie found in Norway and some more. I think there are plenty of chaeto species . ( I can Post you the link if you wish).

CHAETOMORPHA is use to export nutrients from your water column which is usually place in the fuge. Thus , they will compete with other unwanted algae like GHA.

Other macro algae like HALIMEDA or CAULERPA can also be use but they grow more slowly and the grape caulerpa can release toxins when it rippens.
